Finials & Spindles
As a piece flows to achievement of its intended accomplishments through its design, it can be somewhat difficult to create a transition, from its finality into eternity. A finial is an ornate totem which sits atop a pinnacle, providing continuity into infinity.
Object with rigid flat surfaces can sometimes give the impression of being repelled. A spindle with curves is a good way of providing elegance of design with the warmth of acceptance.

Cabriole Legs
Originally used by the ancient Greeks and Chinese, still used by the Chinese to this day. This style of leg fell out of fashion in Europe before the middle ages but quickly became fashionable again in the mid 18th Century.
Interestingly, it was the actual style during Queen Anne's Reign, which lasted only 12 years from 1702 - 1714 in the Stuart era, which is said to have been Late Baroque. This period gave rise to a type of furniture known today as, you guessed it, the Queen Anne Style. The term Queen Anne refers to the style around the time of King George II, who succeeded King George I and reigned from 1727 - 1760, in the Georgian era.
Cabriole Legs feature a concave curve at one end and a convex curve at the other. The Cabriole Leg is also known as the Queen Anne.
